Edgar has therapy twice a week at a wonderful program, which is about 45 minutes away from home. The transportation that his state provided medical insurance has provided is anything but dependable. So, when Edgar gets up early, get dress to be at therapy on time and his tranportation does not show or call, the look on his face just breaks my heart. I am sure that this medical insurance transportation situation has to due with money, "if you don't have any, they don't try to hard to help you." So it is my goal to one day get a van that will accomodate his wheelchair. Since, my son has been in the chair, I have learned that if certain situations do not affect some people directly, then, they don't care and can be rude. Like this morning, when Edgar called to check on transportation, I heard the vendor say, "you are not on our list for pick up today" and hung the phone. Regardless of the fact that Edgar schedules transportation a week in advance.
So when, tranportation failed show, for the last two weeks, I have made sure that Edgar gets to therapy. I get up early and dress just in case; so with the help of his aide, we wrestle to get him in the car and up 95 in a timely manner. Edgar's motorized chair does not fit in my car, so we have to set up and break down his very old manual chair and stuff it in the back of the car.
I was laid off this year, but once I find a job, I hope to improve this situation. We always have faith and determination.
